Projects August/September
Unit 1
Face Piece/Small Sculpture
Here I was trying to make a smiling face. I never fired this piece because I was not happy with how it turned out. I think the nose is good but I don't like the eyes and smile and the eyebrows as well. I think could've definitely made a better piece. If I did fire and glaze it I would try to make it with realistic colors making the lips pink, the eyes blue and I would've used clear glaze for the face.
Unit 2
Pinch Pot Piece
This is the only photo I have of this piece because I left it in a bag and I came back to it and it was broken. Because of this I wasn't able to glaze this piece and finalize it. If I were to glaze it, I would've used the Java Bean glaze to give it the shinny brown look.
Relief Tile Piece
For this piece I wanted to make a sun in the sky with clouds in the background. I went with the colors Kings Blue for the sky and Squash Yellow for the sun and decided to leave the clouds untouched so they could be white. All the glazes fired at 05-06 glaze cone and I used low for white clay for this piece.
Historical Pieces
For the historical pieces I decided to make two Easter Island Pieces. My personal favorite of the two is the piece on the right, which was the first, because of the glaze color, Gray Hare, and the overall build of the piece. The piece on the bottom I tried to mix things up but I don't really like how it came out. I used the Mandarin glaze for the piece and was experimenting with it and it didn't come out the way I thought. Both glazes fired at glaze cone 05-06
Pinch Pot in half
My Pinch pot cut in half in a little disproportionate. Some of it is the same thickness but there are parts of it that are either too thick or too thin.
